Abbas’ advisor: Hamas’ “crazy war” fought for “regional states and axes” only brought “destruction”

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Advisor on Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash: "There's no room for joy (i.e., over ceasefire deal in 2023 Gaza war). What should we rejoice over? Should we rejoice over how we lost 50,000 Martyrs and 120,000 wounded? Should we rejoice over how 80% of the Gaza Strip was destroyed? In return for what? ... All this bloodshed could have been avoided... Why did this war really happen? What were its objectives? … That they [Israel] will bring 600 truckloads of basic products into the Gaza Strip? Previously, 800 trucks were entering the Gaza Strip daily. That we will free 1,600 prisoners? With all respect, appreciation, love, and pride for them, before Oct. 7, [2023] (i.e., Hamas' launch of terror war), there were 5,000 prisoners in the occupation's (i.e., Israel's) prisons, and today there are 17,000... Ahead of us lies a long road of self-rehabilitation… in accordance with a true national outlook that places at the top of its priorities the national objectives, and not the partisan objectives, nor the objectives of regional states and axes, nor the objectives of the Muslim Brotherhood, with which Hamas is affiliated."
